Welcome
to the 2008-2009 Palmetto Section of the ASQ directory. As Chair for the upcoming session, I look
forward to the upcoming year beginning with our kick off where we will hear from
Milliken, on the practices of their Quality System. Throughout the year, we
will have a mix of topics from ranging from quality systems, lean practices,
creative problem solving, to wine quality.
During the year, two of the meetings will be joint sessions with the
Upstate Supply Chain Coalition. We are
looking forward to the topics, which will allow us to peer into the flow as
well as the quality of product. Our tour
this year will be at
Along
with creating a wide selection of topics for the year, the board created a
web-based directory to replace the printed version. The directory will be available in three ways:
a downloadable pdf format at the website, an online version to explore also at
the website, and finally on a disk that will be available at the meetings. This
move to electronic versions of the directory allows us to save a few trees and
keep costs for the section down.
This
year, we will be staying with the Holiday Inn for our dinner meetings. However, due to the raising the cost of food
and energy, the meeting rates will be going up.
Due to a variety of cost saving efforts, the board has decided not to
pass on the full increase. The rates
this year for members will be $23 if an advanced reservation is made. Members can prepay for the year and still get
two (2) meetings free as well.
I am
looking forward to the upcoming year with the schedule that has been put
